Derek Hart - visual artist - moving image - installation

biography
Born 1964, Epping, UK. Derek Hart gained first class BA (Hons) Mixed Media Art at the University of Westminster in 1998 and MA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design in 2000. He worked for two years with N-Imagem research group at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In 2004 he relocated to Australia where he has undertaken casual teaching at tertiary level at the School of Art, University of Tasmania, received funding for temporary site-specific works and for the development of curatorial projects, and participated in exhibitions locally and nationally. He has presented solo exhibitions in Tasmania at 146 Arts, Hobart, 2010, Kelly's Garden Curated Projects, Hobart, 2010, The Long Gallery, Salamanca Arts Centre, Hobart, 2009, and The Design Centre, Launceston, 2008.

In 2009 Derek was awarded funding from the Australia Council for the Arts to undertake a residency hosted by Hydro Tasmania from July 2009 to June 2010. His work features in Art Monthly Australia issue 230 June 2010, RealTime issue 94 Dec 2009 - Jan 2010, Photofile issue 85 Dec 2008 - Mar 2009, and (a curatorial project) Artlink vol 27 no 3 2007.
